Walk-In Technology Help

Have a quick technology-related issue? Want to learn Basic Computing, MS Office, or other basic technology skills? Our staff is available to offer some help! Stop by our backroom on Tuesdays from 1:00 – 3:00 pm with your device and/or eagerness to learn some tech skills using several online tutorials and direct in-person help and get technical. FREE.

 

Craft Kits (Pick-up)

Starting Tuesday, September 6th— Each week (starting on Mondays) we’re handing out themed craft kits to take & make @ home! This month we’re featuring Back-to-School and general fall crafts. Check our Facebook on Mondays to see the featured craft of the week! Available while supplies last! *Limit of 5 per family/pick up. FREE. Children 12 & under.

 

In-Person Storytime

Wednesday, September 7th @ 10:45 am–Live, in-person pre-school aged story times are BACK in our recently renovated multipurpose room. Join our very own Miss Michele (& occasionally Ms. Marleena) for a fun children’s story! After the story, you will also learn how to make a cute accompanying craft to take home. *Note: You must sign up to attend this program, we can only allow minimum of 10 participants to ensure safe social distancing. * Please call at (302) 398-4647 to sign up. All ages.

Senior Medical Patrol

Monday, September 12th – 11:00 am – 1:00 pm—Senior Medical Patrol (SMP) is a group of volunteers, brought to you by Delaware Health and Social Services, who empowers and assist seniors within the community. Representatives will be here in-person to answer your questions regarding where and how to obtain help on wellness, healthcare, fraud, & more for the elderly. Stop by to speak with these volunteers and get your concerns taken care of! FREE. Adults.

 

Friends of the Harrington Public Library Meeting

Tuesday, September 13th, @ 6:00 pm—Interested in supporting your local library and becoming a valued patron who aid in library programs, events, and general on goings? Consider becoming a Friend! We’re very much interested in new members from our community as we’ll be discussing future fundraising opportunities to contribute to the library’s new building project as well as efforts to volunteer for special library events. New members are always welcomed.

Thursday, September 15th @ 12:00 – 1:00 pm—Join us for a friendly talk! This month we’ll be reading discussing our recent reads as well as discussing a featured book concerning Delaware history. Unable to read this month? That’s ok, come anyway for fellowship & refreshments. We’re really a Literature Lovers’ Support Group! New members always welcomed. Adults. Ages 18+

Make & Take: Adult & Teen Paint Night

Thursday, September 22nd @ 5:00 pm— Visit the library to make an autumnal train scene on a small canvas. This class is designed for both beginner and seasoned painters using acrylic paint. Participants will learn how to create their train scene masterpiece with easy to follow step-by-step instructions.  All supplies will be supplied and light refreshments will be served. Come out to unleash your imagination, make new friends, and get inspired to create!  *Must sign up in advance to attend! Limited spots/ supplies available. * FREE. Adults & Teens 10 +

Those Alluring Accessories

Tuesday, September 27th @ 6:00 pm —presented by Karen Jessee (a Delaware Humanities featured speaker) Join Karen Jessee, professional speaker and visiting scholar, as she combines humor, history, and fun in this Women’s History presentation that asks you to guess the purpose of vintage and historic accessories.  Once vital to women, these accessories are now treasures to collectors. Grab a game card and learn about fans, hat pins, wigs, tear bottles, skirt lifters, and even your grandmother’s cameo and powder compact. **This program just won a First Place National Writing Award from the National Federation of Press Women** Teens & Adults. FREE.
