Thursday, June 13th @ 6:00 pm—Reptile Wonders presents a hands-on, interactive and interpretive program featuring exotic species of reptiles, including water turtles, giant tortoises, monitor lizards and pythons. Family event. All ages.

Delaware Aerospace Education Foundation presents “Footsteps on the Moon: Looking Back and Dreaming Ahead”

Wednesday, June 19th @ 10:45 am— Join us for a s storytime that celebrates the monumental success of the mission of Apollo 11 that placed humans on the surface of the Moon. Children will revisit that journey and begin dreaming about their own part in the future of space exploration! “A Universe of Stories”, past, present, and future awaits!

Cascading Carlos Show and Workshop

Thursday, June 20th @ 6:00 pm—Carlos is not a clown or magician, he is a juggler, and nonetheless he clowns around and has a lot of illusions in his Juggling show. You will be amazed by his Juggling skills, while he teaches you how to juggle. His talent to motivate you through juggling will help you build your self-esteem, confidence and focus.

Turtle Dance Man presents “Space! The Cosmos for Kids”

Tuesday, June 25th @ 6:00 pm—“Space! The Cosmos for Kids” is a techno-space-dance-party for kids and teens for the summer reading theme SPACE: A UNIVERSE OF STORIES. Each song includes dancing, music technology and information about our solar system to a thumping beat. Audience members will meet aliens from outer space, talk about the different characteristics of the eight planets, sing karaoke, participate in a rap battle about the sun and learn about the differences between revolution and rotation. Each song in the 45-minute show is accompanied by hands-on, visual, and sensory experiences designed to help kids learn and have fun at the same time. This performance borrows ideas from Carl Sagan, Ann Druyan and Neil DeGrasse Tyson to make an incredible summer reading party! NOTE: This show can aptly be described as a Carl Sagan Dance Party that includes heavy use of projected content and STEM content.

Thursday, June 27th @ 6:00 pm—Come to this presentation for all ages about the Space Suits that ILC Dover creates for astronauts. This program will last about an hour, and a display of the materials will be here in the library!

Star Wars Escape Room for Teens

Tuesday, July 9th @ 6:00 pm—Are you interested in puzzles, mystery, a darkened library, a time limit, and the ominous feeling that Darth Vader just might be looking over your shoulder? Then sign up for this interactive puzzle game where each team will be given 15 minutes to solve a series of puzzles that would ultimately lead to the key that opens the door. 

 

Abbott’s Mill presents “I am the Moon”

Wednesday, July 10th @ 10:45 am—Join us for a storytime featuring Abbott’s Mill who will be exploring the wonder and science of our closest space neighbor, the Moon. Learn how to revolve, orbit and look for craters. Investigate the important role the Moon plays in nature as it shines, tugs and pulls on our Earth. Meet a variety of live creatures, such as Horseshoe Crabs, from Delaware Bay and marsh habitats that depend on the Moon!

Stevens Puppets Presents “The Wizard of Oz”

Tuesday, July 30th @ 6:00 pm—Lions and tigers and puppets, oh my! In this marionette puppet production of the classic, heart-warming tale of “The Wizard of Oz,” adapted by Stevens Puppets, beautifully hand-carved marionette puppets set against colorfully, hand-painted scenery, bring this tale to life on a magnificently fanciful stage…The adventure begins. This theatrical production lasts approximately 45 minutes and includes a 5-minute marionette demonstration after the show.
