The City of Harrington Supports Breast Cancer Awareness
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Be informed, start a conversation, and help save lives. Here is some information from the National Breast Cancer Foundation:
- Family history – most people diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of it (only 5-10% do)
- Breast self exams – women should perform breast self exams every month
- Lumps – 8 out of 10 lumps are benign, all require evaluation by a doctor
- 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime
For more information, please visit the National Breast Cancer Foundation website.
The City of Harrington staff, Mayor, and Council wore pink on October 2, 2017 in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
