Wednesday, May 24th @ 10:45 am— Storytime every Wednesday. This program is geared towards pre-school age children and below. Each week we will read new stories and make fun crafts. If you have a group larger than 10, please sign up in advance.

 

Teen Book Club

Thursday, May 25th @ 6:00 pm—Teen book club where teens will read both books and graphic novels. This month features “Fish Girl” by David Wiesner and Donna Jo Napoli. You can pick up your book for the discussion now.

Friday, May 26th @ 4:00 pm—Program is a series of classes that will culminate in an Art Exhibit during Heritage Day, Saturday, August 26th! No Prior Art Experience Needed! The Program is for 7 year olds to 12 year olds, and all materials are provided! Space is Limited Please call the Library at (302) 398-4647 to register! Summer Reading Challenge

Starting Thursday, June 1st to Saturday, August 12—Come one, come all for the Summer Reading Challenge! We have a club for all ages and everyone who completes the club will get Shorebird Tickets and a free book!

 

Gun Safety Program

Thursday, June 1st @ 6:00 pm—Join us for a movie about gun safety and then a brief presentation from an officer from the Harrington Police Department. All children who participate will receive an activity book and sticker! This is the first event for the Sizzling Summer series!

All are welcome, and multiple activities will be available, also, we will also have a free reading program to help improve your child’s reading skills! Come meet Roscoe the new reading dog at Harrington Public Library! We will also have a build a fun Better World Activity for children to complete.

Delaware Aerospace Education Foundation Presents Think It – Build It – Test It!

Wednesday, June 21st @ 10:45 am—Thinking like an engineer can help us build a better world! Bring your child to the library to introduce them to some great books about engineering and design, to learn about the engineering process, and to let them test their skills on some cool problem-solving projects! You and your child will build and test a catapult and a marble roller coaster. Build three bridge support columns and test which shape will support the most weight. Plastic eggs and Play-doh will give you the chance to build the tallest tower. Explore Ralph Masiello’s Robot Drawing Book, design a make and take robot picture, and watch our wind-up robot jump and dance! Books lead the way, as engineering saves the day!

 

Magician Mike Rose – “Magician at Work!”

Thursday, June 22nd @ 6:00 pm—Magician Mike Rose presents a magic show that is not like other magic shows…The show consists of impossible magic tricks and off the wall comedy all themed around construction, building and architecture. And the show features lots of audience participation, too (Many children will become part of the show!). Additionally, throughout the show Mike Rose will be referencing various children’s books and promoting library use in a fun and entertaining manner.  Don’t miss it!

Mark Lohr Presents “Hooked on Books”

Thursday, June 29th @ 6:00 pm— Is it possible to learn and laugh at the same time?  It sure is!

In Hooked on Books, mild-mannered Mr. Jones sits down one day to enjoy a television program. He is interrupted by a public service announcement that makes him aware of the epic battle that is raging between TV and books. Mr. Jones is jolted from the comfort of his easy chair into hilarious escapades that make him realize that reading is an exciting way to gain new skills, see new places, meet new people, and experience more “channels” than TV ever could! Join the fun with master comic, Mark Lohr! This show is approximately forty-five minutes in length. Support for this program is made possible by collaboration between the Delaware Division of the Arts and the Delaware Division of Libraries.  (Funding is provided in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Library Services and Technology Act administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.)
